The 2021 Golden Globes are done despite the pandemic-affected awards season. While the event was glamorous and lively, Hollywood’s mood was underscored with a sense of grief. The late actor Chadwick Boseman posthumously won the best actor (drama) award for his role in 1920s-set drama Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Even though the ceremony took place on two coasts with most nominees popping in virtually, there were plenty of fashion highlights for the fans. Some celebrities were the best dressed stars at the 2021 Golden Globes, where the Old Hollywood glamour served as a common theme.
The United States vs. Billie Holiday star Andra Day wore an ethereal Chanel couture, giving a taste of jazz age decadence. Her silk tulle gown with a sequin macramé bodice belonged to Virginie Viard’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Cynthia Erivo’s electric Valentino Haute Couture look embellished with classic codes. Neon green with extremely tall fractions and platforms, drawing attention to it; whereas Regina King marked her historic Best Director nomination in an asymmetrical column gown by Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière that was brightly lit up with sequins and crystals.
